Below are some candle safety guidelines that we follow and that we are advising you to follow as well.
Candle Safety Rules:
-
Do NOT leave a burning candle unattended.
-
Do NOT burn a candle on or near anything that might catch fire.
-
Keep candles away from children and your pets.
-
Do NOT lean too close or hover over a burning candle, especially if you used hairspray, cologne or perfume. Keep your hair away from the candle flame while blowing out a candle.
The Right Way to Burn a Candle:
-
Before you burn your candle make sure that you trim the candlewick to the recommended length on your candle’s bottom label each time before burning.
-
Use a wick trimmer to cut your wicks. We trim our candles to industry recommended length, but you can adjust if needed.
-
Please note that extra long or crooked wicks can cause uneven burning, dripping and excess flaring.
-
Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room.
-
Candles should be placed on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
-
Keep the wax pool clear of wick trimmings, matches and debris at all times.
-
Avoid drafts, vents or air currents otherwise, you may see dripping, sooting and uneven burning.
Candle Burning Instructions:
-
Do NOT touch or move your candle while it's burning and while the wax is in a liquefied state.
-
Do NOT burn a candle all the way down to the bottom of the candle container. As a precautionary measure, you should stop burning your candle when 1/2 inch of wax is still in the candle container.
-
If the candle flame gets too high or if it starts flickering excessively, blow out your candle and allow it to cool down before you trim the wick and light it again. Be sure to check for drafts and follow safety guidelines.
-
Do NOT leave candles unattended. Extinguish your candles before you leave the room or house.
4 Ways to Extinguish a Candle:
-
The best way to prevent liquified waxes from getting all over the place, is to use a candle snuffer to put out your candle after you're done burning.
-
Do NOT use water to put out a candle. This may cause your candle container to shatter and spill waxes all over your surface. Never pour water on hot wax!!! It will become flammable and spread fire!
-
If fire break out, use a fire extinguisher, baking soda, sand or flour to extinguish the flames and call 911.
-
Before you leave the room, check to see if the candle wick is completely extinguished and no longer burning.
-
Do NOT touch or move your candle until after it has cooled down.
